Best foot forward: £10k charity fundraiser helps homeless and disadvantaged
Jones Myers has gone the extra mile to help raise over £10k in a vibrant fundraiser to support the poorest and most disadvantaged members of society.
Our ten-strong team put their best foot forward in the Leeds Legal 10k for the Access to Justice Foundation, a charity providing free legal advice to those struggling with homelessness, debt, family difficulties, mental health issues, discrimination, and other problems.
Around five hundred members of the legal profession in Leeds took part in the event – one of a series of regional fundraisers and the largest legal walk held outside London this year.
The route took the fundraisers through the city centre and banks of the Leeds Liverpool Canal before finishing with a band and drinks reception sponsored by Leeds Beckett University’s Law School.
Richard Peaker, Jones Myers managing partner who took part, said: “There was a great buzz and team spirit throughout the walk, and we’re delighted to have boosted funds for the Access to Justice Foundation.
“Access to Justice plays a key role in vital areas such as preventing young families being made homeless and helping victims of sexual violence and torture to rebuild their lives. The event chimes with our firm’s ethos of ‘giving back’ and we are delighted to have helped make a difference to the charity’s goals”. Additional pro bono initiatives our firm is involved include our ongoing partnership with Henshaws where we will be ascending new heights on the forthcoming Three Peaks charity walk. The charity supports over 7,000 service users including those who are registered blind or disabled.
We’re also pleased to sponsor the Jones Myers Master of Laws prize for the Best Overall Performance with Leeds Beckett University for the fourth consecutive year.
