Chambers consolidates Jones Myers as leaders in their field
In advance of the official rankings publication in October, Jones Myers is delighted to announce that the highly respected legal industry bible – Chambers 2017 Guide – has consolidated the reputation of five of our solicitors as ‘leaders in their field’.
The practice, described as ‘A genuinely brilliant firm’ in Chambers 2016 UK Guide, applauds Martin Holdsworth, head of our Contentious Wills, Trust & Estates team, Richard Peaker, founder Peter Jones, Kate Banerjee, head of our Children Department – and collaborative law guru, Norman Taylor.
Jones Myers’ lawyers boast a combined 250 years of legal experience and the current edition of Chambers describe us as: “A widely respected client boutique with a strong family law offering which houses several high-profile advisers who focus on both high-value matrimonial finance and private law children cases, frequently for high net worth individuals.” We look forward to the 2017 guide’s comments following another formative year which includes us developing our top talent with a series of new appointments.
More on our leading lights below:
Martin Holdsworth
Under Martin’s direction, the contentious trusts and estates team has in just 3 years expanded to 4 solicitors and a paralegal all dealing solely with contentious probate work. With the arrival of a 5th solicitor a couple of months away and their own in-house chancery counsel, the team is one of the biggest and most successful specialist units outside of London.
The team deal with clients on disputes over the validity of a will and the management of trusts, and handle claims by beneficiaries – whether they are disappointed and seeking greater provision from a deceased’s estate or responding to claims made by others.
Richard is a Resolution-accredited specialist and is recommended for complex financial provision cases.
Also applauded as ‘the firm’s leading light” in the latest Legal 500 guide, Richard, a divorce and financial disputes expert, has amassed extensive expertise with farming and rural communities.
A former national chairman of Resolution and a Deputy District Judge for 15 years, Peter founded Jones Myers in 1992 as the first niche family law firm in the north of England.
Peter has experience at the highest level in all aspects of divorce and financial disputes and operates both regionally and nationally. His recognised combination of sensitivity and professionalism are the principles upon which he founded the firm
Kate is highly skilled in cases relating to children including contact and residence disputes. She specialises in child protection law and is a Member of the Child Care Panel with experience representing parents, guardians, Local Authorities and children.
Kate has “Higher Court Rights,” something fewer than 2,500 solicitors have in England and Wales, which enables her to offer clients an all-round litigation service.
Consultant Norman is a family lawyer with enormous experience involving financial issues arising from family and relationship breakdown. He regularly deals with medium to high net worth cases.
More details on the rankings will be published later this year.
